I giggled,
failing miserably
in my attempt to
keep a straight face.

he laughed,
eyebrow raised
like a saber
the next parry.

“It’s the truth!”
I replied,

spreading across
my face as I shut
the door behind me.

“Uneasy lies the head
that wears the crown,”
he smirked, shrugging
in resignation over
my complicated life.
