Say Something

My perpetuation of
the lies concocted
by weaker souls,

when voiced,

is greeted by
violent denial,
absolute disbelief,
and no hesitation in
the vehement contraction
of the very notion,

pulled from my soul
and thrust into the embers
of this roaring fire
with a swiftness that
leaves me staggering,

wondering what those
lies were in the first place,
replaced by the warm glow
thrown out by the truth,

at last.

The best thing about my friends is their practically diabolical response to my conviction that I am as bad as the voices in my head tell me I am.
