I Sail in the Morning

Betsy Roses

This is the beach where
I’ve found myself stranded
and my ship has come in
before it’s gone out.

This is the harbor
but I need an anchor
someone to hold me
apart from my doubt.

Here, I am a beacon –
a lighthouse of my own.
I don’t need you to guide me
but I don’t want to be alone.

I beg for safe passage,
for a place to find peace.
I sail in the morning and I
need 7 good hours, at least.
