Kubler Ross

You can pretend
its not real and
you can get mad.

You can negotiate
some kind of truce
with the universe
but it won’t stop
the sadness from
sinking in until
there’s really
nothing left but
to admit he’s gone.

He tried to rise above
but the world rose higher.
Your protestations that
he didn’t seem capable of
failure or justifications for
how this horror can’t really
be true will not in any way
make it less real and nothing
is going to bring him back.

He deserves to be remembered
for who he truly was and not the
perfect picture we painted of him.

They always taught me that
suicide is selfish but I never
understand why until now.

It has been a rough week, internet. A rough week.
